Lenovo is expected to grow in 2026, driven by its aggressive push into artificial intelligence (AI)-powered products and services, despite spiraling memory chip prices that are squeezing consumers’ purchasing power.

“We are still growing,” Michael Ngan, president and country general manager at Lenovo Philippines, told reporters during a media roundtable.

“We’ve never looked back, and the growth of Lenovo has been good over the years,” he added.

The tech company’s growth is driven by its business direction toward AI, with the technology already integrated across crucial operations such as manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics, Mr. Ngan said.

He also shared that other global companies and associations have started integrating Lenovo’s AI with FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) using it for football analytics, Formula 1 for race operations and broadcasting, and DreamWorks Animation for production and computing infrastructure.

“We want the customers to see us as an AI enabler, aggregator, and your AI consultant partner,” Mr. Ngan said.

Lenovo’s growth comes despite ballooning memory chip prices, which Mr. Ngan said may continue until December, forcing technology companies to increase prices of PCs, including consumer and commercial laptops.

“Everybody has no choice but to sell at a higher price. I have to sell at a higher price,” he said.

According to TrendForce, prices of conventional DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) and NAND Flash (NAND flash memory) are expected to rise by as much as 15% and 20%, respectively, in the fourth quarter as AI server demand continues to pressure memory supply.

Mr. Ngan said higher memory chip prices have allowed PC companies, including Lenovo, to meet their revenue targets in recent quarters, but have also caused them to miss their unit sales targets.

Mr. Ngan said demand for PCs among both consumers and commercial customers has not disappeared, but purchases are being delayed. He said consumer spending could return once memory chip prices stabilize, although the timing remains uncertain. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
