BUDGET CARRIER Cebu Pacific is resuming international flights from Davao starting in October as it restores services to Hong Kong and Bangkok.
In a media release on Thursday, Cebu Pacific said it will resume flights from Davao to Hong Kong on Oct. 25 and to Bangkok via Don Mueang International Airport on Oct. 26.
The airline will operate Davao-Hong Kong flights four times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while Davao-Bangkok services will operate three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Cebu Pacific will also increase its Davao-Siargao and Davao-Iloilo flights to 10 times a week and 14 times a week, respectively, as it seeks to capture growing domestic passenger demand.
For the second quarter, Cebu Air, Inc., the operator of Cebu Pacific, posted an attributable net loss of P5.49 billion, reversing an attributable net income of P8.51 billion in the same period last year, as expenses outpaced revenue growth.
Revenue rose 7.1% to P35.24 billion in the three months ended June from P32.91 billion a year earlier, while operating expenses surged 40.9% to P37.97 billion from P26.95 billion.
Flying operations expenses more than doubled to P20.25 billion in the second quarter from P9.81 billion a year earlier.
For the six months ended June, domestic passenger traffic increased 4.92% to 10.87 million from 10.36 million in the same period last year.
International passenger traffic rose 2.25% to 3.63 million from 3.55 million a year earlier.
